How To Install Android 7.0 Nougat For Nexus 4

The Nexus 4 might be an old smartphone but you will be surprised by a number of users it has right now. While the smartphone itself might still be great, the software is definitely outdated since Google stop releasing upgrades for it.

Luckily, getting it from Google is not the only way. Thanks to Nitrogen OS, Nexus 4 users can now upgrade their device to the new Android 7.0 Nougat via custom ROM. Here is how you can do it on your own.

Before you start, backup all important data, make sure your device has more than enough battery to run the whole upgrade. You will also need to root the device and have the bootloader unlocked. Unable the USB Debugging on the device as well.

Once that is done, connect the Nexus 4 to your PC and copy the files to the internal storage. Turn off the device, unplug it nad enter the Recovery Mode. Here, you will need to perform a Nandroid Backup. Next wipe data, cache partition as well as Dalvik Cache.

Go to Install Zip from sd card and select the file. Confirm the installation and do the same for GApps. Finally, reboot the device and you should be good to go.
