Honda Civic & Accord Not Ageing Gracfully, Heads Back To Dealers

The Takata airbags issue have been going on for some time now but it not looks like it is about to stop as Honda expands their safety campaign to include the older models as well.

The new recall will affect the 2001-2001 Honda Civic and Honda Accord as well as the 2002 Honda CR-V and Honda Odyssey, 2003 Honda Pilot, 2002-2003 Acura TL and the 2003 Acura CL.

NHTSA reported that the vehicles affected by this recall have a higher risk adding that the airbags have a 50% chance of rupturing in a crash and advise that drivers should stop driving the car unless they are making their way to the dealer.

Prolonged exposure to humidity and heat will cause the pressure to build up in the Takata airbags which can lead to the air bags rupturing with excessive force causing sending shrapnel flying towards the occupant. There has already been 10 death related to the faulty airbags in the US.
