Galaxy Note 3 vs Xperia Z Ultra: Top Of The Line

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is finally out and it is challenging the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to be the new king of phablets. For years now, the phablet industry has been dominated by the Note series and now, that position is no longer immune.

The Xperia Z Ultra came out with a larger 6.4” TFT display that produces 342ppi. This is really impressive but it is still not good enough to beat the Note 3’s 5.7” Super AMOLED screen that produces 386ppi.

The Xperia Z Ultra also can’t outlast the Note 3. This is due to the smaller 3050mAh battery that it has compared to the larger 3200mAh battery on the Note 3.

Behind the casing, both phablets run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The Note 3’s chipset is clocked at 2.3GHz and comes with Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB RAM. The Z Ultra is slightly slower as its chipset is clocked at 2.2GHz and it comes with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB RAM.

The cameras on the Note 3 are also better. Its 13MP rear camera is capable of 4K recording while the 8MP rear camera on the Z Ultra is only capable of Full HD videos.

All in all, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 still triumphs against the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Then again, it further shows that other brands are growing and soon, the phablet industry will be conquered. That is unless Samsung can do anything about it.
