Galaxy Gear Live, Gear 2, Neo, Fit vs LG G Watch, Xperia SW2 & Pebble

Google officially launched Android Wear, the new OS for wearable devices and smartwatches and then OEMs revealed their plans to launch watches that underpinned the Google Android Wear platform.

At the moment there are three Android Wear watches, these being the LG G Watch, the Motorola Moto 360 and the Samsung Galaxy Gear Live. The G Watch and the Gear Live are out on certain markets, the Moto 260 hasn’t come out yet. The Android Wear watches however are not the only ones on the market.

The Samsung Gear Live

Google brought out a couple and one of them is the Samsung Galaxy Gear Live. You can get it with Wine Red or a Black strap and the design is metallic and buttonless. The watch is certified IP67 and so it is water and dust proof. It comes with a heart rate monitor and a display that is always on. The device can send texts, take notes and users can control it with voice commands. It runs on Jelly Bean 4.3 or later.

The Samsung watch offers a Super AMOLED display of 1.63 inches, the quad core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 512MB of RAM, battery of 300 mAh and it has 4GB of storage. You can pick it up for around $199.

The Samsung Gear 2

This watch runs on Tizen OS and it was revealed at the MWC in February. It is IP67 dust and water resistant and choices of colours are Brown, Orange and Black. It can record video in 720p, has a built in heart rate sensor along with infra-red port. The watch offers a 1.63 inch display that is Super AMOLED, had the dual core 1GHz Exynos processor, 512MB of RAM, 4 GB of storage, battery of 300mAh, 2MP BSI camera and is compatible with 17 of the Samsung handsets including the Note 3 and 2, the Samsung Galaxy S5, S4 and S3. It is available for $284.94.

Samsung Gear 2 Neo

The Samsung Gear 2 Neo is a lower variant of the Gear 2. There are three colour options, Wild Orange, Mocha Grey and Black and the watch includes a heart monitor.

The Gear 2 Neo can be used to control your TV and it comes with IP67 certification and pair up with 17 Samsung Galaxy handsets. It has the 1.63 inch display which is Super AMOLED, a battery of 300 mAh, 51MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. You can get it for $199.

Samsung Gear Fit

The Samsung Gear Fit is aimed at those who want to track their fitness and runs on Tizen OS. It is IP67 water resistant and has always on activity tracking. It comes with a Super AMOLED display of 1.84 inches and it is curved. It has a resolution of 432 x 128 pixels, a dual core 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4 GB of storage, a battery of 210mAh and a heart rate monitor. It is compatible with 17 of the Samsung phones and you can get it for $149.99.

LG G Watch

The G Watch comes in Black Titan or White Gold and it has a IP67 rating. This means that it is water and dust resistant. It has the IPS LCD 1.65 inch square display, the quad core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4 GB of storage and a battery of 400Mah.

The LG G watch is compatible with any Android phone that has Jelly Bean 4.3 or later and it has a price tag of $299.

The Sony Smartwatch SW2

The Smartwatch SW2 is showing its age at a year old and it has been IP57 certified to be water and dust resistant. It has a layer that is scratch resistant, a body of aluminium and weight 122.5 grams. It offers a display of 1.6 inches, has NFC, Bluetooth 3.0 and you can pair it up with any phone on Android with 4.0 or higher. The Smartwatch SW2 has a price tag of $144.

Pebble Steel

The Pebble Steel is a good looking watch that has its own dedicated App store with many apps. It is 5 atm waterproof and weighs in at 56 grams, it has a price tag of $299.99 and you should get around 5 to 7 days from the battery.

The Pebble

The Pebble came before the Pebble Steel in 2013 and has an e-paper display with a battery life of 5 to 7 days. It weighs in at 38 grams and has a TPU rubber or silicone strap. It is waterproof to atm and supports the dedicated App Store. You can pick it up in White, Red or Black for $149.99.

Qualcomm Toq

Qualcomm launched the Toq in 2013 and it is compatible with any phone that has Android 4.0.3 and above. It has the Mirasol display at 1.55 inches and 222ppi. It has a battery of 240mAh, supports wireless charging and had Bluetooth 3.0.

It has a weight of 91 grams and fits a wrist from 6 to 8.7 inches. You can pick it up for around $232.96.
