Ford Fiesta vs Ford Focus: The Hotter Hatchback

Over the past 5 or 6 years, Ford has been dominating the automotive industry as it launches several vehicles that are all wonderful in every way. The Fiesta, in particular, is by far the most fuel efficient sports hatchback around. Then there is the Ford Focus, which has been a best-seller worldwide.

Choosing between the Focus and the Fiesta can be really tough. As such, we have done a technical comparison to find out what both cars have got to offer.

In terms of design, both cars feature that ferocious Aston Martin grille. However, we do find the Focus more appealing due to its wider measurements. The Fiesta is somewhat too narrow and tall for our liking.

Both hatchbacks can fit in 5 passengers comfortably and are running on the FWD system. The Fiesta, in particular, runs on the 197hp 1.6L 4-cylinder engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Ford Focus, on the other hand, is powered by the 252hp 2L 4-cylinder engine that is also mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

When it comes to efficiency, there is no beating the Fiesta as it achieves 26mpg on city roads and 35mpg on highways. The Focus fell short at 23mpg on city roads and 32mpg on highways.

Then again, it is the Focus that is more comfortable of the two. After all, the larger hatchback has more space to offer. Despite that fact, it is the Fiesta that has got more features to offer such as the ability to adjust all the passenger seats and offering second-row power outlets.

The Ford Fiesta is also so much cheaper at $21,400. The Ford Focus retails at $24,115. Even on the long run, the Fiesta is the more fuel-efficient vehicle.
