Apple will return with Apple maps and this time around they will do it style. When they ditched Google Maps it was a big mistake and they will offer a map app that comes with data that is more reliable for public transport and possibly indoor mapping in select markets, which will start in the US.

IBT said that health apps will be in and one of these will be Healthbook. This will be a new hub that will be easy to use where owners can record and gain access to medical information and monitor their own well-being.

In CarPlay enhancements are going to be a big feature in the new OS and this came with iOS 7.1 and brought with it a more enjoyable driving experience. iOS 8 will move into wider app integration.

Siri is going to see improvements and of course it will be a lot smarter than ever before. It will have to be as it is in competition with Google Now and Cortana.

While notifications were better than ever with iOS 7.1, when iOS 8 arrives they will be even better than before and be simpler.

We have heard that the display of the iPhone 6 will be bigger and this means productivity will be boosted. So we can expect to see iCloud and iWork along with focus on tools for better workplace collaboration, expanded storage and app integration.

There will be wider accessory support with iOS 8 and it is said that the phone will offer a better entertainment experience with iPads thanks to companion tools. These are thought to be along the lines of typing pads and gaming pads.

Multitasking will be a big part of iOS 8 thanks to Split Windows, which will arrive with the new OS. Applications will be split so that two apps can be open at the same time.

There will be separate iTunes radio with iOS 8, with the idea being to kill off Google Play.

We have also heard that iOS 8 will be tweaked to ensure that the device offers more battery life. This should come by way of the A8 processor that is said to not be a power hog. Along with this the coding of iOS 8 supports efficient use of power to make sure that the battery lasts much longer according to IBT.
