Blackberry Passport vs iPhone 6: Unsung Hero vs Global Phenomenon

Blackberry has been losing their market share ever since the iPhones and Android smartphones took over the world. However, it is not to say that their devices are not getting better. The latest Blackberry Passport is by far, one of the best smartphones to date. Then again, is it better than the iPhone 6?

The first major difference between both devices is the design. As we all know, Apple adopted that candy bar structure for the iPhone 6. Despite the latter being the biggest iPhone yet, the Blackberry Passport is still larger since it comes with a physical keyboard attached at the bottom of the phone. Such an addition caused the Passport to adopt a square structure.

Even so, the Passport has a 4.5” display that offers 453ppi. In other words, the Passport’s screen is sharper than the iPhone 6, which only has 326ppi to offer from its 4.7” screen.

When it comes to performance, the iPhone 6 is fast as it is powered by the latest Apple A8 chipset that is paired to 1GB of RAM and PowerVR GX6450 GPU. The iPhone 6 also comes with fixed internal storage that ranges from 16GB to 64GB and capped at 128GB.

Similarly, the Blackberry Passport is also a speed demon as it is powered by the 2.26GHz Snapdragon 801 processor that is paired with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The Passport has a fixed 32GB of internal storage but it can be expanded to 128GB thanks to the microSD support. Furthermore, the Passport has a large 3450mAh battery that can last much longer than the iPhone 6’s 1810mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the Passport is equipped with a sophisticated 13MP rear shooter and a 2MP front snapper. This is also much better than the iPhone 6’s 8MP rear camera, which is also not too shabby itself.

All in all, there is no doubt that the Blackberry Passport is the better smartphone in this contest. Apple might be able to overcome the Android devices thanks to its software-hardware integration but the Passport is able to match that offering. On a final note, the Passport is cheaper at $585 while the iPhone 6 retails at $649 for the 16GB variant.
