2012 Ford Fiesta Review

Ford Fiesta has launched three and five door models this year. Both the variants are showing good sales records. This is surprising as three door sedans are less preferred over five door ones.

A mere look at the stunningly designed three door variant suggests the reason for it holding its ground against its five door sibling. However this does not affect the five door variant as it looks just as fabulous. It brings in a lot more practicality compared to the three door variants as well. The stunning looks are the result of the Kinetic design philosophy of Ford’s 2012 range.

Ford Fiesta’s radical styling

Good contrast is achieved between the three bar front grille and large radiators to make the Fiesta look more sporty and aggressive. The front pseudo air inlets, intelligently placed creases and elongated headlights add to the impressiveness.

The styling continues to the rear as well. The rear windscreen is U-shaped, very similar to the Mondeo or the Focus. It makes the vehicle look better compared to the previous sharp-edged version. It also comes with a rear spoiler which adds a nice touch. The rear spoiler is much more prominent if you opt for the sports package however. This package also has a front spoiler and side skirts. 15 inch wheels go well with the model but 16 inches could have made a greater impact on styling. Additionally, it comes in new colour schemes like hot magenta. The interior has also undergone a major revamp. It gets a central console and the general layout is funky yet not loud.

This Ford is extremely safe. It has a Euro NCAP five star rating. The safety features include anti lock brakes and electronic brake force distribution. Ford also incorporates an Intelligent Protection System. To protect the driver it has incorporated many features like steel safety cage and dual front airbags.

Ford Fiesta, an effortless drive

You don’t know when you hit the road due to the electrically assisted steering. The steering is just so light and effortless. The response is extremely good as well. It is easy on corners and curves, and one does not feel the car’s weight. Fiesta performs well with its 96 bhp engine, ideal for city roads where power is not a prime factor. With manual override the vehicle is friendlier giving you much better control when situations call for it.

Overall, the Ford Fiesta is a great little car that handles superbly on the road, is on the cheaper side when it comes to car insurance compared to its European rivals, and boasts top notch safety features.
