2018 Mazda CX-5 Will Further Break Fuel Economy Standards

While most automakers seem to be ditching their plan to go diesel and work on offering EV powered model instead, Mazda still has not given up on Diesel yet.

Even without the diesel powered model or the hybrid or EV option, the Mazda still manages to be one of the most fuel-efficient models on the market. According to EPA Mazda currently, returns about 29.6mpg on average thanks to the SkyActiv technology and things are only going to get better for them.

Nikkei Asian Review reported that Mazda is looking to offer a diesel-powered Mazda CX-5 in the US and that we should be seeing this diesel model next year. It is believed that the diesel-powered Mazda CX-5 will be used to fill up the empty gap that Volkswagen left after the whole diesel scandal.

The Mazda CX-5 should be fitte diwth the 2.2 liter diesel engine that will be offering 148hp and 170hp.
