Honda could have gone either way. They could have chosen the Pilot and gave the CR-V a more matured design but it looks like they have decided to use the new Civic design.
The Honda CR-V test model was spotted while it was getting tested out in the open and based on the spy shots, it was clear that the upcoming Honda CR-V will be based on the new Honda Civic. The Honda Civic will give the CR-V a younger vibe which would help them attract some younger buyers.
From what we can see, Civic features like the grille, headlights and taillights will all be carried over to the Honda CR-V. The Honda CR-V will also be riding on the Honda Civic platform. It is believed that the Honda CR-V will be powered by a 1.5 liter VTEC Turbo engine. We might also see a 2.0 liter VTEC Turbo engine being offered as well.
