2016 Porsche Cayenne vs Mercedes GLE-CLass: Price Can Mislead

One of the way to see if a car is better than the other is to look at the price tag. The higher price model is usually the better model but that is not the case when it comes to the Mercedes GLE-Class and the Porsche Cayenne.

It would cost you more to get the Porsche Cayenne than the Mercedes GLE-Class right now but that does not mean that the GLE-Class is not as good as the Cayenne. Compared to the Porsche Cayenne, the GLE-Class model is more fuel efficient. Their 2.1-liter turbo diesel four cylinder engine will deliver about 201hp and return more than 30mpg on the highway. The Porsche Cayenne, on the other hand, iwll come with its hybrid engine will be able to offer about 22mpg on average.

If performance is what you are looking for, you can get the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 which will come with a 550hp engine. The to of the range Porsche Cayenne Turbo will be fitted with a 520hp engine instead.

Compared to the Mercedes, the Porsche Cayenne interior is a lot more quiet but its rear seats can’t be folded flat so fitting in larger items is not going to be easy.

Mercedes also get a pat on their back for their safety features on the GLE-Class model. Safety features like forward collision warning with auto emergency braking, drowsy-driving detection system, night vision, active lane control and more.

The 2016 Porsche Cayenne now retails about $58,300 while the Mercedes-Benz GLE Class retails for $51,100.
