2016 BMW i3 vs Nissan Leaf: Day & Night

The Nissan Leaf and the BMW i3 both belong to a different category. Although they are both EV models, their target audience can’t be more different. While Nissan aims to provide their customers with an affordable EV model, BMW is all about the premium and luxury side of things.

The Nissan Leaf will be powered by an electric engine that will be mated to a 1-speed auto transmission. The engine will be delivering about 107hp and 187lb ft of torque. The Nissan Leaf should be offering about 84miles of range or 126mpge in the city and 101mpge on the highway.

The BMW i3, on the other hand, will come in with an electric engine that will be pushing out about 170hp and 184Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 1-speed auto transmission and will have a range of 80miles or 137mpge in the city and 111mpge on the highway.

The $27,486 Nissan Leaf might be cheaper but the BMW i3 has the looks to offer. The BMW i3 will retail for $39,510.
