2015 Nissan X-Trail Completed Extreme Makeover

It has been released. The all-new Nissan X-Trail was launched two-weeks ago during the Indonesia International Motor Show and it captured our attention. Unlike its predecessors, the new X-Trail has a new look that is somewhat similar to the Nissan Qashqai.

Speaking of which, the X-Trail will be looking to extend Nissan’s dominance in the SUV market, after enjoying back-to-back success with the Qashqai and the Juke.

Even the design is somewhat similar to its siblings. There is that “V-Motion” grille, slim headlights, D-pillar kink, C-shaped tail lights and assortment of sweeps and curves. The interior, on the other hand, looks so much like the Teana. Of course, the only difference is that the X-Trail has a third row of seats. Even so, it can only accommodate children.

Under the hood, consumers can choose from two petrol engines. They are identified as the Serena S-Hybrid-derived MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected mill developing 144 PS and 200 Nm, as well as a QR25DE 2.5 litre MPI motor from the Teana that produces 171 PS and 233 Nm. Both engines are mated to the Xtronic CVT transmission but it is the MR20DD which has an added 6-speed manual option.

Other features include LED daytime running lights, auto headlamps, Active Ride Control, auto wipers, heated door mirrors, keyless entry, push-button start, power-operated front seats, an Around View Monitor and an ECO mode switch. Of course, they vary based on the model purchased.

The entry level X-Trail retails at IRp383 million for the 2L manual while the top of the line model cost IRp431.5 million for the 2.5L model. Consumers can also choose from Premium Bronze Metallic, Floral White, Phantom Black, Smokey Grey Metallic and Diamond Silver Metallic for their car paint colour.
