Forget Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Successor With Improved Camera, Faster CPU Already On The Way?

We’ve seen Samsung take the Galaxy name to new heights by releasing everything from the Galaxy Skyrocket to throwing in add-ons like “Plus” and “Advance” as names for newer variants of its current standing top phones. Well if you thought the Samsung Galaxy Nexus would escape it just because it was a pure Google phone then think again.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Plus rumors surface

According to the folks over at AndroidAndMe, we could see a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus very soon. Given that Samsung has a track record of refreshing some of its devices only months after the initial release, a recent benchmark score spotted on the Nenamark site shows a Galaxy Nexus with PowerVR SGX544 graphics processor is believed to be the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Plus.

Packing a more powerful SGX544 GPU (was one of the weak points of the original Galaxy Nexus), it is also paired with a new OMAP4470 processor. As A&M points out, “the OMAP4470 is advertised as offering 2.5x the graphics performance of the OMAP4430,” so we can expect some big performance gains.

In addition to a faster CPU, A&M adds that the 5-megapixel camera found on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may be bumped up to 8-megapixels in the Plus version. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
