Verizon HTC Rezound A World Phone, GSM SIM Card Slot Tweaked To Work

Well here is a little bit of surprising news for HTC Rezound users. It appears that the Rezound has a secondary radio that gives it global roaming capabilities i.e. making it a world phone.

Verizon HTC Rezound GSM Sim Card slot can be tweaked to work

According to reports, you can turn off LTE and insert a GSM SIM card in the available slot. A little tinkering and then you will see the new global options. At the moment voice calls and data are enabled but texts aren’t good to go yet and the hacking community is working on a solution.

On a side note, Verizon Wireless is prepping an OTA update for the HTC Rezound that brings the software version from 2.01.605.11 to 0.95.00.1118r. Unfortunately the update has nothing to do with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but more of a performance improvement and some bug fixes: it updates your signal strength meter to 5 bar, fixes screen timeout complaints when on Wi-Fi, stabilizes Mobile Hotspot data when multiple users log on, enhanced voice calls audio quality, less forced closures and more.

Expect the update to roll in over the next few days. As for the GSM world phone hack for the HTC Rezound, only time will tell.
