Siri On iPhone 4S Hacked, Given Ability To Start Cars

We’ve had a lot of fun with Siri, the voice command assistant on the iPhone 4S, ever since it launched late last year. While its wacky answers to strange questions have kept most iPhone users entertained, developer Brandon Fiquett is one of the first to hack Siri to do something Apple never envisioned. To start your car by voice.

Now before you ask where exactly you can download this hack, take a breather and read on as it isn’t as simple as it sounds. The point of this post is that Siri can be hacked to communicate nearly anything eventually.

Using the Siri Proxy, Fiquett managed to get his Acura to start up via voice command over Siri. His Acura has a Viper Smart Start System which is designed to work with smartphones so that whole complex setup was luckily taken out of the equation.

Fiquett employed a custom PHP script that runs on his home server alongside some custom plugins to get Siri to recognize words like “vehicle start,” “vehicle disarm,” and “vehicle pop trunk.” Well enough chatter, check out the video clip below to see it in action!
