Motorola Fires Out Small Burst Of Xoom 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update To Owners

Despite the Motorola XOOM being the pure Google tablet, it was ASUS who managed to beat the Google-owned company to releasing the Android 4.0 update first to its tablets. Now perhaps feeling embarrassed by the event, Motorola has started firing out small bursts of XOOM Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates to selected owners in an attempt to test waters before going all out.

Motorola XOOM Android 4.0 update following closely after ASUS Transformer Prime

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime began receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update during CES last week and so far it seems to be taking on well with little to no issues recorded. As for Motorola, TheExaminer reports that the company sent out the following email to select Xoom owners on Friday:

“Thanks for your patience as we’ve waited for this project to begin. Because we are dealing with a Google Experience Device (GED) we have less insight to timing than we would usually have. However, I’m happy to announce that we will start the update this evening. Because it was delayed a few days, we will also have additional time to test; we will let it run through the weekend.”

If you’ve received the Motorola XOOM Android 4.0 update, do tell us how it’s working out on your tablet!
