Samsung Galaxy S3 Or iPhone 4S: Which Should You Get?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the must have handsets of 2012 so far, but the release of the iPhone 5 could change all of this. For now all Apple have is the iPhone 4S, but how does it compare with the S3?

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 4S

The professional look is what makes the iPhone 4S shine out above the plastic look of the S3. It is also easier to put into the pocket. The 4.8 inch display of the S3 is great though and the handset is very light. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has curves while the iPhone 4S is on the square side. Despite the fact that both of the phones have had a lot of thought when it comes to design, the iPhone looks classier and so is the winner.

The iPhone 4S comes with a 3.5 inch display with 960 x 640 resolution and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8 inch screen with 1280 x 720 HD resolution and both are excellent. Thanks to the larger and more realistic display of the S3, it comes out on top.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is perfect for web browsing and pages are easily viewed and scrolled on the 4.8 inch display as opposed to the 3.5 inch of the iPhone 4S. The S3 does suffer from rendering problems while this doesn’t happen with the 4S, but both of the devices do send you back to the homepage if the webpage is too large and takes up too memory. However it is less noticeable with the iPhone 4S.

In terms of performance the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a dual core processor of 1.5GHz and it has 2GB of RAM. The iPhone does feel limited if you try to open lots of apps simultaneously and often the handset won’t change from landscape to portrait as fast as the S3 does. The Samsung Galaxy S3 wins.

With its large screen the Samsung Galaxy S3 is superb for video watching and while both handsets have a camera of 8 megapixels, the one on the iPhone 4S is crisper and the sound is also better too, which puts the iPhone 4S ahead of the S3.

There is no turn by turn navigation on the iPhone 4S unless you install a 3rd party app. The S3 comes with an updated Maps app and the voice giving directions does sound human. In this category the S3 comes out on top.

There is a larger battery on the Samsung Galaxy S3 as it is 2100mAh and it can last around eight hours even with heavy use. The iPhone battery on the other hand lasts for up to six hours, and so battery wise the S3 wins.

For the average buyer the iPhone 4S could work out the better buy thanks to it being easier to hold and it is more user friendly. On the other hand the screen of the Se is larger and if you spend a lot of time watching movies or browsing the web then this will be better. In our tests the S3 comes out top, but it is all down to preference.
