iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Note: Unicorn Fight!

Samsung have been reported to already be testing the mythical Samsung Galaxy Note 2 already after benchmark tests were revealed online from GLBenchmark. PhoneArena meanwhile say that the Samsung GT-N7100 handset was seen on the benchmark site and it has a 1.6GHz processor and a faster CPU than the processor in the Galaxy S3, the Exynos quad-core. The same post also said that the handset will have a HD touchscreen of 1280 x 720p.

Apart from the quad core, the screen and the OS there has also been mounting speculation as to what the phone will be made out of and will it be premium materials or plastic. Some are saying that the Note 2 will come with ICS out of the box, others say 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Slashgear have said that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 should be in the IFA stage by 30th August in Europe and the rumours are that it will contend with the release of the iPhone 5 from Apple. This is said to be around October, according to analysts. MarketWatch are saying that when the device is launched it will cause slowdowns of sales of other handsets, along with components, leading up to the release of the phone and that this will include older iPhones.

The maker of the chipset in the phones, Qualcomm, said that they expect lower revenue in September and that the December quarter would be strong. The same report also said that the share of Qualcomm is on the rise, while analyst James Faucetter went on to say that Qualcomm may be able to sell around 40 million chips for the iPhone 5 alone.

The iPhone 5 is expected to get a speed bump as well as LTE capabilities. How the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will stand up against the iPhone 5 remains to be seen. However given that everything we’ve heard about both smartphones so far are solely rumors, you can consider them as real as unicorns only at the moment.
