Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X: Which Has Lesser Problems?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X are both flagship phones and are both impressive pieces of engineering. Both phones have huge 720p screens, dual or quad-core processors and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Either phone would grace your palm, but neither is perfect.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X: Which One Is Worst off?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and its quad-core Exynos chip (international version) and its dual-core Qualcomm processor (US version) gives users the best Android experience available. However, the handset’s notoriously cheap-looking (and feeling) plastic materials have made many buyers complain. Other users have complained about the poor microphone performance on the Samsung Galaxy S3 as well as its dim screen which a PCMag test proved as being true.

Problems with battery life, Wi-Fi connectivity issues and the now infamous overheating trouble have all been brought to our attention. One forum post at XDA Developers has claimed that the US model’s dual-core chip can reach temperatures of 48 degrees Celsius while browsing. This is the same heat that’s kicked out by much bigger and demanding laptop processors.

HTC One X owners have also been griping about Wi-Fi connection issues. HTC has said that the problem lies in the phone’s hardware. HTC has released a software update that should help some users. The Taiwanese company has also pledged to sort out its manufacturing processes to cure the problem. This will be cold comfort to afflicted users, though.

HTC One X owners have also had problems with touchscreen responsiveness when the phone is plugged in. HTC did rush out an update to sort this, though. Another issue which still remains is the overly aggressive behavior when it comes to closing background apps. HTC has acknowledged this in the HTC One X but doesn’t consider it an issue despite complaints from many power users. They claim that this aggressive closing of background apps improves battery performance.

So while both back excellent hardware, they have their fair share of problems which you should keep in mind before making a purchase e.g. is screen brightness or multi-tasking more important to you?
