Samsung Galaxy S3: Someone Please Put It Out Of Its Misery!

CNET recently decided to torture test the Samsung Galaxy S3 to find out if it could withstand temperatures of 190 degrees, being dropped multiple times and sent to the bottom of a fish tank.

Video: Samsung Galaxy S3 durability tested (not for the faint hearted)

The first test was to simulate the device being in hot sun on a beach or left in a locked car in the sun. After some debate a terrarium was chosen for the simulation. This meant that they could see what was happening to the phone through the glass which had a 150 watt ceramic heat bulb inside. The Samsung Galaxy S3 was put inside the terrarium and after an hour the temperature inside was 190 degrees and of course the phone was too hot to be picked up.

Along with baking it in 190 degree heat the phone was also subjected to being put in the freezer, was dropped onto the floor three times, keys were dragged over the screen and it was dropped into a tank full of water with rocks. Did it survive all this torture? Well check out the video below to find out for yourself.

Users may also want to check out the episode on NFC tags which shows how you can change the state of your phone to fit in with your location. It clearly shows that NFC can be used for much more than making payments with your mobile phone.
