Google Officially Announce Nexus 7 & Nexus Q Devices

Google have made the Nexus 7 tablet official and it can be ordered in the Google Play store for $199 for the 8GB version and $249 for the 16GB. The tablet will start shipping in July and if you pre-order you can be one of the first Android fans to get their hands on the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. The device has a 7 inch screen which is HD and it is powered by a Tegra 3 quad core processor; it has 1GB of RAM and is NFC enabled.

Google Nexus Q joins Nexus 7 at Google I/O

Meanwhile Google also announced that they will be competing with the likes of Apple, Sony, Samsung and Microsoft in the living room battle. The recent I/O keynote ended with Google’s product to bring their services to your HDTV, the Nexus Q.

The orb shaped device will start selling in mid-July for around $300 and it looks very similar to a bowling bowl, other than the flat bottom, and almost has the same weight about it. It has been designed in smooth black matte and once turned on there is a middle strip that glows thanks to LED lights to let you know that it is working. The product will stream songs, photos and videos to connected devices in your home. On the back is a Micro-HDMI output plus an optical audio port, Ethernet jack and a Micro-USB port. There is also banana jack speaker outputs which power speakers with the built in 25 watt amp and there is no need for a separate AV receiver. The orb has dual band Wi-Fi built in, NFC support and Bluetooth.

In short the Google Nexus Q will allow you to bridge the gap between an Android device and your TV. You can play music, video or watch video from YouTube. However the downside to it is that the only content it plays is through Google Play and YouTube, whether this will change we are not sure. Google may have a battle on their hands to convince people it is worth paying out $300 for the Nexus Q.
