T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 Crashes CTIA 2012

Back in January, word of a SGH-T999 device making its way around benchmarks began to surface. At the time, the device was believed to be a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Well that now doesn’t seem to be the case.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 hinted in hands-on video from CTIA 2012

The folks over at AndroidPolice were recently playing around with a Samsung Galaxy S3 at CTIA 2012 in New Orleans. While it appeared to be like just about every other hands-on video, a certain reader (@drewtang1) noticed that just before the 6 minute mark, there was a device with the model number SGH-T999 in the Allshare app. The current T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 is SGH-T989 so it is only logical that Samsung assigns the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 one number higher.

While there have been doubts as to whether the quad-core Exynos chip in the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be compatible with all LTE bands here in the US (Verizon, AT&T and Sprint), T-Mobile still relies heavily on HSPA+ which leaves it open to getting a quad-core Galaxy S3 just like the international model.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to launch in Europe by the end of this month, with the US release date scheduled for sometime later in the summer only. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
