iPhone 5: Big In Some Areas, Small In Others

With the Samsung Galaxy S3 now officially confirmed, the iPhone 5 is now arguably the most rumored smartphone at this time. We’ve seen the iPhone 5 rumor mill run from after the iPhone 4S launch in October right until now, and since then speculations suggest that we will see an Apple phone redesigned from ground up. So what does the iPhone 5 have to offer? Read on.

iPhone 5 features (rumors): bigger screen, smaller dock

Popular Apple fan blog iLounge who have a good track record when it comes to iPhone rumors put forth the following intel which they claim they received from a “reliable source.” The source confirmed to them that the iPhone 5 would be thinner, taller, feature scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 2 up front, metal rear casing and boast a 4-inch display.

Now if this does come to fruition, it would be the first time Apple deviates away from the 3.5-inch form factor. Given that the current trend with smartphones is towards bigger displays, it wouldn’t be odd at all.

iLounge also adds that the iPhone 5 will pack a smaller dock connector with fewer pins, and will be about 20 percent thinner than the iPhone 4: “Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm – a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width.”
