The Samsung Galaxy S3 is now less than 24 hours away from its official debut. Arguably the most anticipated Android smartphone of 2012, it is expected to go head to head with the likes of the rumored iPhone 5, Motorola DROID RAZR HD and current favorite the HTC One X.
Samsung Galaxy S3 to reincarnate as Google Nexus 4 & Samsung Focus II?
Now rumors are flying that Samsung may have two more smartphones scheduled for this year that will share the same underlying hardware as the Galaxy S3 – the Google Nexus 4 and Samsung Focus II.
The former will be the 4th smartphone in the Nexus series and will mark the debut of the latest Android update, believed to be Android 5.0 JellyBean. According to a national Korean newspaper, Samsung has already been chosen to partner with Google for the Nexus 4. Given that they teamed up for the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus, it is no surprise. The Google Nexus 4 is expected to share similar hardware with the Galaxy S3, just like how the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S2 did. If Google sticks with tradition, we should the Google Nexus 4 arrive sometime in the holidays.
Next up is the Samsung Focus II. Believed to be Samsung flagship Windows Phone 8 device, it too will share hardware from the Galaxy S3. Windows Phone Life’s Michael Blake claims that, “My source tells me that because of the drastic changes in the Windows Phone 8 OS, Samsung will be able to use the Galaxy S III’s faster processor, bigger and higher resolution display and of course, LTE, which will make swapping over specs into a Windows Phone device.” These S3 parts include the 4.7-inch HD display, 12 megapixel rear-facing camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, NFC capabilities, LTE support, faster dual-core processor, improved photo studio, Samsung Cloud Support and a dedicated camera button.
We’ll keep you posted as more develops. Until then, look forward to coverage of the Samsung Galaxy S3 launch event in the next few hours!
