Verizon HTC Rezound Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rolls Out May 9th [LEAK]

The Verizon HTC Rezound is one of those few Android smartphones from last year which HTC confirmed would be getting the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. While the HTC One X has since taken the spotlight and showcases Android 4.0 with a ‘light’ Sense UI, the HTC Rezound packs some serious hardware and will without a doubt remain in Big Red’s lineup for sometime now.

Verizon HTC Rezound Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in May?

Now Reddit user ‘DroidTosser’ who claims to be working for Verizon Wireless, has just posted up the release date for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Rezound and Motorola Xoom 3G/4G. If the below details are to be believed, we will see a full OTA push for the HTC Rezound Android 4.0 ICS update on May 9th:

“I work, in some capacity, for ‘Big Red’. I happened to snag the release dates dropped today for the HTC Rezound (ADR6425), Motorola Xoom 3G (MZ602) and 4G (MZ600). Here is the information:

HTC Rezound – 05/09

    Software Update Version: 2
    Soak Test: 04/16/2012 – 05/07/12
    OTA: Verzion
    Size: 297mb
    Push OTA: 05/09/12
    Pull Avail: 05/09/12

Xoom 3G/4G – 04/23

    Software Update Version: 5
    Soak Test: 03/29/12 – 04/19/12
    OTA: Google
    Size: 106mb
    Push OTA: 04/23/12
    Pull Avail: N/A

If possible, I will try and provide photographic evidence, but it is quite difficult, given the nature of my job. Please don’t ask too many prying question — or at least don’t expect answers. I need to assume a level of anonymity.

EDIT: Despite some rumors, there is not a “dated” release for ICS for the Moto Droid RAZR/MAXX. There is a push starting today (04/19/12) for a minor system update (~67mb). It was not designated as a full system update. Just under “OTHER”.”

Also taken note that he mentions there will be a non-Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Motorola DROID RAZR and MAXX, hinting that we may not see Android 4.0 for it until the summer. Nevertheless, with all rumors we suggest taking this one with a grain of salt. More on this as it develops.
