Is The iPhone 5 Overrated?

With every new iPhone release, Apple fans come to expect a lot more from Apple. And just like past iPhone launches, we won’t know what the iPhone 5 will have to offer until launch day.

This year, we could see the iPhone 5 launch in June or October following the late release schedule started by the iPhone 4S. However whatever the exact release date may be, we can be somewhat confident that it will launch this year. And with that, go up against the best smartphones of 2012.

Given that everything that’s been said about the iPhone 5 to date are based on rumors, let’s see how it holds up against other rumored superphones of 2012 and see if its overrated or does deserve the extra attention its gathered.

iPhone 5 rumors vs that of the Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Blade and official HTC One X

The iPhone 5 is expected to go head to head with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Blade and the HTC One X. Now these three Android smartphones have a couple of things in common with each other. They all are confirmed/rumored to have larger screens with HD resolutions, support 4G LTE, feature dual or quad-core processors, pack cameras ranging from 8-12MP, and lastly come with the latest OS update preloaded.

If you’ve been following the iPhone 5 rumor mill, you will see that it seems to match its predecessor. It too gets a display upgrade (4-inches up), faster dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, 8 to 12MP camera upgrade, 4G LTE, and launch with iOS 6.0 in tow. So on paper, it seems almost identical with its biggest rivals when it comes to upgrades with no ‘curve balls’ mentioned so far.

Are you waiting for the iPhone 5 in particular or will you just pounce on whichever smartphone comes first with specs to match the above?
