1GB iPhone 5 & iPod Touch 5G Already Show Up At Apple, Have Been Disguised As iPhone 4S (9to5Mac)

With iPhone 5 summer release rumors in full steam, the latest prototype leak couldn’t have come at a more ‘believable’ time. According to the folks over at 9to5Mac, both a new iPhone and iPod touch have surfaced at Apple’s labs.

iPhone 5 & iPod touch 5G prototypes arrive at Apple (9to5Mac)

The blog reports that both an iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5G wearing the iPhone 4S shell have reached Apple for testing purposes, just two months before it is said to launch. The iPhone 5 reportedly packs 1GB of RAM which is an upgrade over the iPhone 4S (512MB RAM) and matches that of the New iPad 3. The prototype packs a variation of the A5X chip found in the New iPad 3 as well.

In addition to the iPhone 5, an iPod touch 5G has also surfaced, although no further details have been provided regarding it by the blog.

Given Apple’s delayed release of the iPhone 4S last year, there is still an air of doubt as to whether Apple plans to launch the iPhone 5 at WWDC this year. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
