T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.0 Update: No TouchWiz , Built-In Tethering (Unofficial ROM)

With the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, it wasn’t long until developers began piecing together their own unofficial ROMs for the US variants of the popular Galaxy S2 series.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich unofficial ROM now available

First up was a ROM for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 SkyRocket which albeit a little unstable, was good enough for daily usage. Now XDA Developer ‘RaverX3X’ has released an official Android 4.0 ICS ROM for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 – Android 4.03 Self Kang

The developer provides the following details: “Based off 4.0.3 Google source; Kanged in some Diff From skyrocket ICS leak; wi fi working; Video working; Full AOSP NO I MEAN 0 NATA ZILCH TOUCH WIZ; Stock Skyrocket ICS kernel; Rooted; Swipe able notification; Tethering without need for apps; Much Much More”

What remains is the following: “Need to fix issue with Ril not interfacing with the radio correctly; Working on reverting some changes to get audio working again; Will fix YouTube crashing on playback”.

So we’re looking at no more Touch-Wiz and built-in tethering among other features the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 won’t offer. As always, download it at your own risk (link at bottom).
