New iPad 3 Having Trouble Charging Up

Earlier last week, we reported that a recent teardown of the New iPad 3 by the folks over at iFixit revealed that the next-generation Apple tablet had a battery that was 70 percent larger than its predecessor. Despite the larger battery capacity, the New iPad 3 and iPad 2 shared almost similar battery life.

This of course had to do with the fact that the New iPad 3 has more powerful hardware and naturally sucks more juice at a faster rate. Unfortunately for users, this has caused some issues with charging the device.

Putting aside charging it through a USB port which is dismal at best, even the 10W wall charger that comes with the New iPad 3 has trouble charging the tablet’s battery up fast enough. Numerous posts over on the MacRumors forums are talking about this issue where when the tablet is being used and plugged in, that the battery is still being drained despite it showing as being charged by the indicator up top. As one MacRumors forum goer points out, “the Air uses a charger that is 4 times larger for a battery of near equal size.”
