Official AT&T HTC Vivid Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Out

While Samsung Galaxy S2 users was the first non-Nexus smartphone to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, folks over in the US weren’t so lucky and are still playing the waiting game.

AT&T HTC Vivid Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update now available

Now HTC has gone ahead and pushed out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Vivid for the US. While it isn’t hitting smartphones automatically at this time, AT&T users can dial *#*#682#*#* and get what appears to be a finished Android 4.0 build on the 4G smartphone. AT&T has yet to clarify when the update will occur on a wider basis.

As for the actual Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update with a hybrid of Sense 3.0 and 4.0 (similar to that on HTC One series), it still retains the same home screen ring lock and pretty much the same launcher and widgets. However there are some nice Android 4.0 ICS touches like the more robust app launcher at bottom and the new Roboto font that we love.

In addition to visual changes, HTC Vivid users will see a speedier stock browser and support for Chrome for Android. If you happen to have a HTC Vivid on AT&T, do tell us if you received the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update just yet and how the experience is in the comments below.
