Are Upcoming HTC Android Phones With Beats Audio Any Good?

After HTC’s disappointing sales in the last quarter of 2011, the Taiwanese company promised to be more innovative and release ‘hero’ devices this year instead of a whole army of almost identically equipped hardware.

Upcoming HTC Android phones boast Beats Audio as a major selling point… but is it any good?

One of its biggest “innovations” this year so far appear to the Beats Audio technology that has been incorporated into its new phones. However while it was believed that this enhancement meant something at the hardware level, the recent announcement that the HTC Vivid would be upgraded to include Beats Audio technology via a software update has many tech pundits questioning whether this is a truly a premium feature or just a marketing gimmick.

With no Beats audio chip inside all these HTC devices released so far and sites like DroidDog finding that there was no real improvement in quality other than simply focusing on enhancing the bass of a song, this just looks like an attempt to make HTC phones look like premium Beats products when they are not.

If there is anything that can be said to be better about Beats Audio phones at the moment, it would be that the Beats earbuds that are included with the phones are of better quality than the normal ones manufacturers generally throw in.
