Fisker Automotive To Close Down Michigan Facility

Striving to consolidate its research and design operations, Fisker Automotive Inc. is moving about 30 members of its staff from the U.S. state of Michigan to its California facility.

Project Nina

The company, which is producing its first electric vehicle in Finland, stated that its aim is to “accelerate development of its next-generation plug-in hybrids.” This project has been nicknamed Nina.

Fisker’s global headquarters, in Irvine California, will carry all design, engineering, sales, marketing, and administrative operations from 1st March. Where as the present Pontiac, Michigan facility will be closed and all posts would be transported to California. However, this is not expected to have an effect on Fisker’s partnership with Michigan-based engineering firms and parts suppliers.

Last January, Fisker stated that it raised $115 million in equity. This cleared one financial obstacle that will allow it to draw on U.S. government loans required to setup the distribution networks for its two upcoming plug-in hybrid vehicles.
