Mercedes Benz has gone ahead and teased the 2013 Mercedes Benz A-Class via a viral ad that removes all the normal camouflage and instead replaces it with QR codes.

The marketing stunt is still a little vague but word has it that Mercedes Benz plans to drive a couple of these A-Class prototypes through German streets where pedestrians will be able to scan the QR codes if they spot them. These codes can be registered to grab QR-trophies after which whoever manages to upload 3 separate codes will enter in a draw to win a trip to the car’s unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show. Now of course we don’t think that is it and are sure there’s more to it than just a free viewing of the launch.

While we have already had a glimpse of how the A-Class would look like courtesy of patent office filings in Europe, this image does give a more revealing look. We can see that the overall silhouette is more hatchback like, which makes it a direct competitor to the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series unlike its predecessor.

Also given that it will be the first of 5 Mercedes Benz models to utilize an all-new front wheel drive platform, it will be the poster child for later models like an upcoming mini SUV and new B-Class.
