The 2016 Ford Explorer Facelift Won’t Be Any Different [PICS]

Ford will be giving the Explorer a mid-cycle facelift in 2016 but there isn’t anything much to expect from the vehicle.

This is confirmed after viewing the leaked spy shots of the upcoming Ford Explorer. Unlike most spy shots for other vehicles in production, the Explorer is only wrapped in camouflage for the front and rear portion. Obviously, the design changes will only be limited to those areas.

Looking past the camouflage, the Explorer Facelift is confirmed to be coming with a new front grille and headlamps. Also, the shape of the front bumpers arrived with new-looking fog lamps that are positioned higher than the existing rounded spotlights. Over at the tail section, the camouflage failed to hide the new light clusters, tailgate and bumper designs.

Unfortunately, no spy shots are able to reveal on the sort of powertrain and mechanical parts resting under the vehicle’s hood. Similarly, we can’t tell on the offerings inside the cabin.

Referring to the rumours, it seems that the Explorer will be powered by a 2L turbocharged EcoBoost engine which will replace the traditional 240hp 2L engine. Also, the SUV will drive on the AWD platform.
