Chevy Impala & Cadillac XTS Recall Detailed!

NHTSA has forced Chevrolet to perform a mass recall on the Impala and Cadillac XTS models due to a suspected problem with the electronic parking brake.

The recall was announced yesterday and it will affect the Cadillac XTS that are manufactured between 2013 and 2015, and the Impalas that are built from 2014 to 2015. In total, 221,000 vehicles are affected by the recall.

As for the issue, NHTSA revealed that in some occasions, the electronic parking brake on the aforementioned vehicles will not fully disengage. With the brake pads still glued to the rotor, driving the vehicle can generate excessive heat, thus, increasing the risk for a fire.

On the bright side of things, there has yet to be any reported cases of a fire just yet. Owners of the recalled vehicles have been personally notified by Chevrolet.
