2015 Acura TLX Review: Personal Preferences Hinders Global Success

There is not much wrong with the latest Acura TLX. The luxury sedan came out with a comforting and pleasant driving experience to offer but upon testing the vehicle out for ourselves, we discovered it to be poorly executed.

Of course, this is not to say that the Acura TLX is bad but it could have been better. The vehicle drives on the FWD system that is powered by a V6 engine that is mated to a 9-speed regular automatic transmission that is not too shabby at all.

However, it does not require rocket science to realize that the TLX can perform much better and carry more appeal if it is to run on the SH-AD platform together with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. With such a build-up, the TLX will certainly make the most out of the V6 engine, which in hand will enhance the overall luxurious experience.

We are pretty sure Acura couldn’t agree more with our projected technicalities for the TLX but it is a wonder on why the luxury carmaker didn’t act accordingly.

If a pattern is to follow, Japanese carmakers tend to avoid dual-clutch technology and this could be why the TLX is built with a regular 9-speeder. Then again, doing so will also limit the Acura TLX sales to the Asian market.
