2015 Acura TLX Review: More Trims Could Have Done Wonders

Exactly a year ago, car enthusiasts have been following news on the Acura TLX’s development. There was a lot of excitement for the luxury saloon as it is being tipped to put Acura back in the luxury competition.

However, that has failed to happen as the hype immediately dies after Acura launches the TLX. This is despite of the fact that the latest saloon offers a decent performance and a thoroughly sophisticated interior.

In detail, the TLX is powered by a V6 engine and is driven on the FWD platform. This develops 290hp that is pumped through a regular 9-speed automatic transmission. So what could be the problem with the TLX?

After doing some digging, we realized that the TLX actually lacks trim levels. The standard model might be decent but car junkies are hoping for more if they wish to see the TLX competing with the likes of Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

We are pretty sure that Acura is aware of the fact that an SH-AWD TLX with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission will have more impact in the market. On the other hand, we also know that Acura is not a fan of dual-clutch.

Then again, Acura should put their personal preferences aside and instead, introduce such a trim as an added option for the car junkies. After all, doing so will surely show that Acura is dead serious in competing with other luxury carmakers.
