2015 Acura TLX Review: Lacking Trims Is Biggest Flaw

The TLX is the latest vehicle to come from Acura and yet again, it has failed to make a strong presence in the luxury automotive industry. This is despite of the fact that the TLX came out with a nice, clean-cut design and a powerful V6 engine.

After testing out the TLX, we finally discovered that the flaw is with the limited options offered with the luxury sedan. The standard TLX came out as an FWD car that is operated with a regular 9-speed automatic gearbox. For a V6 powered vehicle, performance is somewhat limited and there is no additional trim to make the TLX exciting.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that the TLX would be more appealing if Acura is to offer it with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission while driving on the SH-AWD system. Then again, Japanese carmaker tends to avoid dual-clutch gearbox as it is unfavourable in their local market.

Well, if Acura wishes to make it big on the global stage, they will have to put their preference aside to make a big name for itself. Unfortunately, the Acura TLX will remain to be as one of the most underrated luxury sedan today.
