2014 Nissan Leaf Review: It Should Stay Away From The Highways

The Nissan Leaf has just been updated with a brand new model and it is something really different from its predecessors. This is probably owed to the fact that the Leaf is now being developed in the Great Britain.

For those who have not heard about the Nissan Leaf, it is an all-electric vehicle that will shape the future of the automotive industry. At least, that is how Nissan described it. We tested the Leaf and were surprised with what the EV hatchback has got to offer.

The electric motor generates 109hp and 206lb-fts of torque. The Leaf can sprint from 0-62mph in just 11.9 seconds, while also having a top speed of 90mph. For an electric vehicle, the Leaf is actually faster than the Volkswagen Polo and other hatchbacks. Of course, electric powertrain brings out the torque the moment drivers step on the gas pedal.

Handling the Leaf is also something we were surprised with. The hatch’s steering is pretty light and the car absorbs body rolls very well. This is particularly important as the Leaf is built for the city dwellers that require a lot of turning, chasing down traffic lights and evading potholes.

On the downside of things, travel range is still limited at 124miles. Furthermore, the Leaf retails at £28,490 which makes it really expensive to own.
