2014 Jeep Renegade Review: An Off-Road Fashion Statement

When we speak of the latest Jeep Renegade, the first thing that often pops in our mind is its beauty. Call it gentle if you wish but the Renegade’s styling makes it more approachable to consumers.

Amazingly, the flawless exterior manages to creep inside the cabin. The end result is neat interior and premium upholstery. Even the buttons on the dashboard got simplified and arranged in a more orderly manner.

Under the hood, the Renegade is powered by a 2L 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. For a diesel mill, we were quite impressed with its performance. In figures, the Renegade can accelerate from 0-62mph in a decent time of 10.2 seconds.

On the downside of things, the turbo doesn’t actually helps a lot when driving the vehicle on the road. The Renegade basically feels underpowered, which makes it hard for us to do an overtaking when on high speed.

Then again, this is all forgiven as the Renegade arrived with Jeep’s hallmark off-road technology. The latter allows the Renegade to climb mountains, speed on dirt trails and even cross the river with ease. In short, the Renegade is simply a monster when it comes to off-roading.
