Despite there being a long wait for Half Life 3 it seems that fans are not that excited about the game, even though it may be on the verge of being launched. Gaming blog S&R recently said that it could be down to the game not being shown off just yet. At the moment fans don’t have anything to talk about as the only thing they do know is that the game is being developed.
S&R said that when Half Life 3 gets announced the game will cause a stir, just like all of the big games do when they are revealed. When this happens Half Life 3 will be the only thing that is talked about online. S&R said that it will be like when the super hero flies in to save the day at the last minute.
Half Life 2 was shown off too soon and this meant that excitement had died down by the time it was officially revealed. This could be the reason why Valve have not given out any information about the game.
S&R said that if you look at other developers such as id Software, who announced Doom 4 in 2008, they have not revealed anything the game until today. EA also did the same with Mirror Edge 2. Valve could have revealed the fact that Half Life 3 was under development and this would have made fans happy. However it seems that Valve are trying to avoid becoming known only as being the developers of Half Life.
Valve do seem to be pushing MP games and highlighting Steam, so it can compete with the other consoles.
