LG Nexus 6: The ’6′ Purportedly Stands For A Satisfying Six-Inches

We are hearing that the Nexus 6 will be built by LG and it could arrive late this year along with a Nexus smartwatch. The Nexus 6 could be a device of 6 inches which would be based around the LG G3 which is said to be arriving in June, and the LG G Flex. The Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 derived from the display size as opposed to the generation, this was the same with the Nexus 7. So we could see a Nexus 7 2013 along with a Nexus 7 2012, the only way we will see a Nexus 5 2014 is if the display is the same.

Rumours about the Nexus 6 do suggest that LG and Google are planning to launch a larger Nexus device. The Nexus brand usually follows market trends as the Nexus 4 was 4.7 inches and the market was dominated by handsets that were around that size when it launched. The Nexus 5 came in at 5 inches, while devices on the market were around 5 to 5.2 inches. Now device displays are creeping to around 5.2 inches and phablets are in the 5.9 to 6 inch range. Phablets arrive with high quality displays, powerful cameras and some superb hardware, including 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 800 or 801 processors. It is thought that the Snapdragon 805 will make its way out during the second half of this year, so it is looking as though there is a demand for phablet sized handsets.

The Nexus 6 could therefore be a device with a 6 inch display and it could be a curved display. There is a handset on the Google Play Store in the phablet size, the Sony Z Ultra, so a Nexus 6 in the 6 inch range could undercut this. Rumours going around about LG being behind the Nexus 6 may not be true as they have already made two handsets with Google. It’s been some time since Google got together with HTC or Samsung to launch a handset.
