iOS creator, Apple, will go head to head with Android maker, Google. Both OS masters have their list of devices launched over the years with the most recent being the iPad Mini 2 and the Nexus 7 respectively.
The iPad Mini 2 is much newer than the Nexus 7. However, will the new prove to be better? Today, we compare these devices on every level.
The iPad Mini 2 maintains the aluminum built from its predecessor, thus giving a much premium look and great feel on the device. Where size is concerned, the iPad Mini 2 is wider yet thinner than the Nexus 7 with a measurement of 200×134.7×7.5mm. However the Nexus 7 is lighter than the iPad, weighing at 290g.
The display on both devices is on par being able to produce a sharp and crisp image. The iPad Mini 2 for example brags a 2048x1536p Retina display. Both pixel densities are within the 323-326 ppi region and also uses the IPS LCD technology.
Typical of Apple, the iPad Mini 2 will have its models based on internal storage ranging from 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Memory expansion is not allowed for Apple’s tablet. The Nexus 7 on the other hand only offers 16GB and 32GB of storage. Similarly, the Nexus 7 do not support external memory.
The processors for both devices are able to handle the heaviest of task. The iPad Mini 2 runs on the new A7 dual-core 64bit processor which gives it an edge over the old Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip on the Nexus 7. Again the iPad Mini 2 tops the power management category with a 4.440mAh battery capacity compared to Nexus’ 3950mAh. Other feature like the camera is equally matched by both devices offering 5MP.
For the price conscious people, the Nexus 7 goes at $199 whereas the iPad Mini 2 at $319.
