2015 Honda HR-V vs Jeep Renegade: Tar Mats vs Mud Trails

When comparing both the latest Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade, one will find that they are totally different compact SUVs. Even so, the better seller of the two is the HR-V and here’s why.

The Honda HR-V is basically built to be the ideal compact SUV for general use. It has a decent performance, it is fuel savvy and it is also stylish at the same time. The HR-V is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that is mated to a CVT transmission.

In figures, this translates to 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque. Furthermore, the HR-V is also packed with tons of features like air filtration, front air-condition and a multi-purpose steering wheel that is completed with audio controls, cruise control, phone control as well as steering wheel adjustments.

To complete the package, the Honda HR-V comes with an affordable price tag while also being very cheap to run on a daily basis. This simply makes it more appealing than the Jeep Renegade. The latter might look nicer but the fact that it is also a massive fuel sucker makes it unappealing to the masses.

Then again, the 1.4L turbocharged engine and the 6-speed automatic transmission which tows the Jeep Renegade is there to ensure that the vehicle is powerful enough to take on the off-road terrain. Together with Jeep’s 4WD technology, the Renegade has the ability to climb mountains and surf on mud.

Unfortunately, not everyone is a fan of off-roading. When on the roads, the Jeep Renegade offers a decent performance but it is not as great as driving the Honda HR-V.
