Samsung Galaxy S3 Review: The Bad Side

Two weeks ago TheExaminer gave their review of the Samsung Galaxy S3 which was disappointing. Many readers have since asked that they spend some more time with the handset and perhaps reconsider some parts of that review. After spending more time with the handset, they have now been won over, however it is still unclear whether the S3 beats the iPhone 4S for the average consumer.

Examiner’s second Samsung Galaxy S3 review, still not good

Here are some highlights from their second take on the Galaxy S3 and what has somehow tipped their scale in Samsung’s favor:

The screen does look beautiful but it does look rather like a printed picture as opposed to a digital screen. In the original review it was said to have a screen that was washed out but this is no longer true. Following more extensive use of the handset it feels light and rather cheap due to the plastic but it appears,, this is how some like their phones.

In the original review the processor was called outdated, as the international version of the S3 was released with a quad core processor. However recent tests showed that a quad core is not necessarily better than the dual core and the unit tested did not show delays when opening programs. 2GB or RAM helps with the performance of the handset and even with five programs running, performance was not compromised. The display of the handset also rotates straight away without any lag.

For the majority of individuals Android 4.0 will be frustrating as you need to do searches on the internet and follow directions to be able to understand just how to use the phone. On the good side ICS brings a great deal of customization to the phone once you learn how to use it and the OS does flow nice and is reliable.

On the other hand the Apple iOS is a great deal easier to learn and is simpler and 75% of users of phones would no doubt choose iOS rather than ICS for this reason. Google is however improving with each OS that they release.

Another frustrating feature is that Samsung offer earbuds but these are nothing in comparison to hearing music through Bose or Beats headphones or similar ones on the market and when tested the Bose headphones would not work properly with the S3.

Finally it was originally said that the 8 megapixel camera took pictures that were worse than the S2. At the time there must have been a fault with the camera used in the test as photos do come out well. On the downside the 1080p videos are slightly compressed and the sound does seem to be cluttered on the videos.

Ok so we admit that Examiner’s second take on the Samsung Galaxy S3 isn’t that much better. They still seem to dislike the Samsung Galaxy S3 and are stretching to find positives. Hit the source link to read Examiner’s full review of the Samsung Galaxy S3, again.
