Xbox One Digital Games Are Sneakily Region-Locked

Ever since the Xbox One got released late last year, it has received nothing but complains for the players. Just about everything that involves the Xbox One has been sour and it is unsure to why Microsoft makes it hard for gamers to play games.

The latest issue with the Xbox One is the region lock. When the console first launched, gamers believed that there isn’t any region restrictions. That was until a month ago when Microsoft activated the region lock and it had a strong impact to the Xbox community.

Many Xbox users now face a problem where the console brought out an error code, “0x87de07d1”, which prevents them from playing the game. Due to this, the affected players have voiced out complains over at the Xbox forum.

One victim of the region lock revealed that he owns a digital copy of Forza 5 which works like wonders when it first launched. Ever since the region lock kicks in, the lad was unable to play the game. Even when in the Xbox store, instead of having a play option on Forza 5’s page, it states download there. In other words, the Xbox user doesn’t own a Forza 5 game any longer.

The situation got worse when the Xbox personnel attending to these cases suggested the victims to return to the dealer and request for them to change the codes. The employee further revealed that all Xbox games are now region specific.

As of this moment, Microsoft has yet to give an official response to these incidents. The Xbox Vendor better acts fast, or risk losing their loyal gamers.
