Game Freak director, Junichi Masuda revealed that designing Pokémon is very difficult. It was also revealed that all the new Pokémon characters took 6 month to be created by a team of 20 designers.
The team has to go through a lot of specifics before a Pokémon can be added. When designing the Pokémon, the artist has to consider its habitat, environment, behaviour patterns and combat strength. With all this in mind, then the Pokémon can be designed to life.
It is also known that in the team of 20 graphic designers, 5 of them will have to judge the designs and see which Pokémon will enter the final games. Masuda shared with us that a particular Pokémon can take as quick as 3 month to get designed or in other cases, up to half a year.
The team of designers must also think about the players who will play the game and the kind of features to include, in order to get the right balance.
With all this mentioned just a day prior to the release of Pokémon X & Y, we can witness an artistic value to the game. Masuda concluded claiming that if all the requirements are met by the designers, the game will definitely be appealing.
