Rockstar has given us a lot of information about GTA Online including reputation, jobs, heists and micro-transactions.
Millions of people around the world have been playing GTA Online since its arrival on 1st October and here is what we know about it.
There is a huge map in which players are able to wander around freely and do virtually anything they want.
Online supports 16 players and Rockstar said that this would be from launch, so its possible it could end up supporting more.
Those playing can watch movies, go shooting or take part in many other activities and earn themselves a better reputation.
Rockstar said for example that you could take it upon yourself to go out and rob an armoured truck or even go up against another gang and wipe them out.
People wanted to know if the heists in the single player game would be in GTA Online.
But it was said that heists will not appear in GTA Online as soon as it arrives, but that these would appear at a later date.
When they finally arrive they will “introduce full-on cooperative heist missions that will require careful planning, teamwork and sharp execution – along with the Heist Planning Board for your apartment.”
We have hoped for more potential with heists, but nevertheless we are happy that they will appear online at a later date.
When heists arrive there will be updates and these will be free.
There is a reputation system built into GTA Online and this means that you can earn yourself a reputation on the streets.
Gamers can get their hands on new weapons, make new contacts and will be able to unlock new features.
Money made in the game can be spent on clothing, houses, guns and cars.
The economy of GTA Online is different for that in the single player game and so money cannot be transferred.
There are micro-transactions in the game, which means that players are able to buy things using real money. But you don’t have to use real money and there has been a promise from Rockstar that it will not disrupt the balance of the game.
Players can take part in sporting events, which include tennis and golf.
Before GTA Online was launched, Rockstar gave the impression that they expected some issues.
“There will be the typical growing pains for an online game, including but not limited to crashes, glitches, crazy bugs, gameplay modes and mechanics that need re-balancing and other surprises,” Rockstar said.
“One thing we are already aware of, and are trying to alleviate as fast as we can, is the unanticipated additional pressure on the servers due to a significantly higher number of players than we were anticipating at this point – we are working around the clock to buy and add more servers, but this increased scale is only going to make the first few days even more temperamental than such things usually are,” said Rockstar.
“This is part of the problem some of you have been experiencing with the iFruit App and some Social Club services – we apologize in advance for this and thank you for your patience in this area,” Rockstar explained.
It may have taken a while to settle down but GTA Online is an outstanding game.
