Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 along with those who have the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini were disappointed to hear that they would not get the update to KitKat. As you can guess they were not impressed with the news. Some people are international and they didn’t get confirmation from any sources about the update and whether it was heading to their handset. Samsung did say that the update for the 3G version would not be arriving internationally; this left some people wondering if the Android 4.4.2 update was coming at all.
However things have now changed courtesy of Vodafone as they have now given official confirmation that KitKat is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S3. Rogers in Canada have also confirmed it, so it does look as though the update could be restricted to North America. This is great news for those who don’t have the LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S3. It is looking as though the update is going to roll out globally at some point in time.
There was an issue with the 3G version of the Samsung Galaxy and it was said that it would not get updated due to the fact that it comes with just 1GB of RAM. However there are many custom ROMs available and OmniROM has been posting versions of 4.4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
